Shannon has performed with the Vancouver Metropolitan Orchestra as well as with local theater productions.

Of course, no convention runs itself, and we need your help! Panel applications are open from now until September 9. Every year we try to bring in as much of the wonderful talent of this community that we can, so please send us your applications! If you’ve got stuff to sell, our vendor application is open as well! Vendors can submit applications until June 30th to join our vendor hall. Nightmare Nights will be selecting vendors by a jury system, as we did last year, to ensure that there are a wide range of items for our attendees and vendors. See the applications for more information.

And most importantly, we need you to join us this October for the best Nightmare Nights yet! Registration is now open for all badges at a discounted rate until the convention, including our Sponsor badges, which are a great way to make your Nightmare Nights experience even more awesome. Our Celestial and Premium sponsor badges are in high demand every year, so don’t wait! Once you’re registered, reserve your room at the Crowne Plaza Addison using the code MLP for a discount.

Thank you to all our attendees and fans for your continued support over the years! We’ll have more announcements coming shortly, so be sure to stay tuned to our TwitterFacebook, and Tumblr feeds for more updates!

Peter New is BABSCon’s New Hope

PonyStarWarsRed

In a world of voice actors, one man stands as a guiding force, a beacon in the star-filled sky, a new hope for us all. With the strength and steadfastness of an apple tree, he cries “Eeyup.” This Spring, BABSCon is pleased to welcome back the force that is Peter New!

Peter’s iconic “Eeyup” has brought such life and character to MLP:FiM’s wise Big Macintosh, who is he is arguably one of the most beloved male characters of the show.  But Peter New isn’t just a one “Eeyup” man. Many of the other stallions we meet are voiced by Peter as well, including Rarity’s and Pinkie Pie’s dads …plus Squizzard, the mighty squid wizard. Peter also had an amazing musical number in the episode “Filli Vanilli.” Lest anyone forget, one year Peter also arrived at BABSCon’s Saturday VA panel as the glorious Princess Big Mac.

In addition to his “apple” acting, Peter New is the speaking and singing voice of Sunil Nevis on Littlest Pet Shop, made on-screen appearances on shows such as Psych, Stargate SG-1, Dead Like Me, and Point Blank, and even had a Leo Award Nominated role as Donald Dirk in Sunflower Hour.

Peter New joins Tabitha St. Germain as a Guest of Honor at BABSCon 2017 and we have a lot more industry and community guests to announce! Register now at babscon.com.

Also, be on the lookout for amazing Black Friday deals starting Thanksgiving night. Here’s a hint: the code is BLACKFRIDAY20

BABSCon, the Bay Area Brony Spectacular, is the San Francisco Bay Area’s annual convention for fans of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic and associated titles. Operating since 2014, BABSCon brings together some of the most talented actors, writers, and artists in the industry and fandom to meet and interact with attendees, and provides a family-friendly safe space for fans to learn about animation, buy and sell wares and art, support local charities, and make new friends that attend from all around the world.

HASCON Announced for September 2017

HasCon LogoHasbro has announced the creation of HASCON, it’s official “fan and family convention” for September 8-10, 2017, at the Rhode Island Convention Center and Dunkin Donuts Center in Providence, RI. The three-day event is billed “featuring a celebration of Hasbro’s powerful characters and stories, including live interactive experiences, exclusive products, talent appearances, panels and much more.” In addition to My Little Pony, other Hasbro brands such as Transformers, G. I. Joe, Magic:  The Gathering, Nerf, Play-Doh, and Monopoly will also be featured in stage performances, previews of movies and TV shows, panels, meet-and-greets, and other interactive experiences.

“Hasbro is home to many of the world’s most recognizable brands, each of them with their own group of passionate and engaged fans,” said John Frascotti, President of Hasbro Brands, in the press release. “HASCON will deliver an extraordinary peek behind the curtain of our brands, storytelling, and iconic characters while giving us the opportunity to invite fans and families to our hometown for the most memorable, unified Hasbro experience ever.”

As of now, HASCON is the same weekend as Equestria LA is scheduled to return. This year, both BronyCon in Baltimore and the Hasbro-sponsored My Little Pony Fair in Schaumburg, IL were held on the same weekend this past July, but the effect that had for either conventions attendance is questionable given other factors such as renovation of the Baltimore Convention Center scheduled in August and attendance at MLP Fair was capped this year after both conventions experienced record crowds in 2015. MLP Fair is expected to occur in 2017, but reportedly with attendance capped at 1,000.

Transformers had their own Hasbro-sponsored convention in the form of Botcon which ran from 1994 to 2016. However, it was announced at Botcon 2016 in Louisville that it would be the last “in its current format,” possible an indication of HASCON at the time.

It will be fascinating to see what happens in 2017 with this new venture from Hasbro as there are also upcoming movies for both MLP and TF as well as big projects for the rest of their franchise brands in the future. There will still be plenty of Brony conventions in 2017, including a new one in Las Vegas set for the weekend of the MLP Movie release.

Whatever way you look at things, the year 2017 promises to be an interesting one for MLP and the rest of Hasbro’s franchise brands.

Nightmare Nights Announces Community Guests for 2016

nmnd-launch-1[1]

We love inviting guest who work on our favorite show and all the media around it, but as we all know, this community is so much bigger than just show staff. We have four amazing community guests joining us this year.

PixelKitties has been one of the most popular artists in the fandom since the very first season of Friendship is Magic. With over a million views on DeviantArt, she’s created OCs for show staff and autograph signs for countless conventions. When she’s not drawing ponies, you can find her on Twitter talking about tacos and beer. As fans of combining beer, tacos, and ponies, we’re very excited to welcome her back!

Silver Quill is one of the most respected members of the pony analyst community. The self-described “brony fandom’s sole known reviewing hippogryph”, Silver Quill has over 100,000 subscribers watching funny and thoughtful analyses and deconstructions of pony episodes, movies, and more on YouTube. He’ll be bringing his trademark wit and insight back to Dallas for Nightmare Nights again this year!

LeekFish is an artist who has been drawing tiny horses since 2013. You’ve seen her work headlining conventions, splashed all over Twitter, and in just about every con’s vendor hall and charity auction. Not limited to drawing ponies, her art spans media like anime and video games, along with an original comic book and webcomic series named Envelove. With this being her fourth trip to Texas, we’re thrilled to have her as a community guest in 2016!

Foal Papers, scholar and noted British person, will be returning to Nightmare Nights for his fourth time! Foal will be leading our panels once again, discussing voice acting in the morning, writing in the afternoon, and scotch in the evening. Whether in his role as our Master of Ceremonies, or acting as M. A. Larson’s whipping boy, we’re very glad to have him back!

The con is getting closer and closer every week! Make sure to purchase your badge to Nightmare Nights on our homepage, as prices will be going up at the door. We’re back at the Crowne Plaza Addison for our fourth year, so reserve your room at our discounted room rate. We’re also accepting volunteers to help with all kinds of stuff at the con, in exchange for a free badge and a feeling of satisfaction from helping your fellow pony fans enjoy the convention!

Be sure to stay tuned here on our website, and on our TwitterFacebook, and Tumblr pages for more updates on guests, vendors, schedule, and more!
