Crewniverse Recap #11

Tonight, brand new episode of Steven Universe on CN, 7pm est.  Tonight’s episode is dubbed “Rose’s Room”, so we’ll be getting another dose of random world building.  The synopsis:

Steven’s desire for some alone time unlocks a new room in the Temple that answers his every wish.

Preview clip available via Cartoon Network.

Sadly though that appears to be the only new episode for the month of May.  Coach Steven is now set to air sometime in June, along with a new episode title – Joking Victim.  No synopsis yet.

In other related news, the Steven Universe – WeLoveFine Design Contest has kicked off its “rating” portion of the contest.

70[1]

664 designs were submitted to WLF, and currently the general public will rate each shirt.  There are 20 days left for rating.  Then at the end three guest judges (Rebecca Sugar, Ian Jones-Quartey, & Steven Sugar) will pick the winners.

That’s all for now from the world of Steven Universe.  At some point in the future we’ll have to talk about the BOOM! Studio comic coming out sometime this summer.

StatManDan’s MLP Review Blitz Bonanza

Since someone on YouTube already does “Lightning Round” reviews from time to time, and I can’t do YouTube apart from videos of big cats at zoos, I’ll take from the bonus round of a short-lived game show from the 1980s (“All-Star Blitz”) and do a “Blitz Bonanza” of reviews for MLP Season Four. The rules are as follows:

Each episode is scored on a scale of 1-10 apart from the two-part “Princess Twilight Sparkle” which will be scored on a scale of 1-20. These are my opinions and do not necessarily reflect those of Derpy News. Each review will be a single paragraph in length and go six episodes at a time* since we need to prepare for “Twilight’s Kingdom” next Saturday. With all of that in mind, let’s begin!
* Due to time constraints (and some laziness) we present StatManDan’s reviews as one ultra mega chicken article.

Ratings Corner: Steven Universe – Lion 2: The Movie

tumblr_n4rai0O9UR1smn4pqo8_1280

The return of Lion as part of the story drew a few more viewers than his original appearance. “Lion 2:  The Movie” drew 1.565 million viewers and placed 13th on the Cartoon Network chart. It is a 42.5% improvement from two weeks ago when Steven Universe began on Wednesday nights. One does have to wonder how it would have done on Monday after Adventure Time cracked the 3 million mark (3.321M to be exact) and Regular Show following up with 2.67M.  You can ask Clearance which drew 2.372 million on April 21st.

Steven Universe Season 1:
  • Episodes as of April 23rd:  15
  • High:  1,893,000 (“Giant Woman”, 2/24/14)
  • Low:  1,005,000 (“Arcade Mania”, 2/17/14)
  • Average Viewership:  1,506,533
  • Highest Placing:  1st (“Giant Woman”, 2/24/14)
  • Lowest Placing:  79th (“Arcade Mania”, 2/17/14)
  • Average Placing:  21.73
